Beeman + Kirsten's Home Remodel
Beeman + Kirsten's Home Remodel
Whole Home Renovation in Portland, OR
Beeman + Kirsten went all in on the remodel of their gracious old house in Laurelhurst. The transformed home has an easy flow, a fresh palette that still feels at home in a Craftsman house, and super functional outdoor spaces for a family with kids.
Big changes occurred inside and out, with no surface left untouched. The former dining room, kitchen + breakfast room became one large space. The garage was completely rebuilt, gaining a roof deck above it. The kitchen lost an unsightly side porch, but gained access to an expansive new back deck. Materials range in price point, from handmade Heath Ceramics tile at the kitchen, to budget Daltile for the bathrooms. A shared color palette of greens, blues, and various flavors of mustard bring everything together.
Michael has now done the design for two large projects for us, and both have turned out nothing short of spectacular. He has a very refined design aesthetic, and a remarkable ability to project our vision onto a space. In our case he has transformed our Craftsman home by adding contemporary touches that still manage to retain the turn-of-the-century character. The results are truly lifestyle-changing.

Living room before + after
We converted the wood fireplace to gas and gave it a new handmade tile surround. Carpeted floors reverted to the original oak. Cruddy painted-over wallpaper was stripped away, and walls were skim coated with plaster.
