Debbie + Graeme's Condo Remodel
Condo Renovation in Portland, OR
Having recently relocated from Hong Kong, Debbie + Graeme found a penthouse apartment with spectacular waterfront views in her native Portland. But the condo required a major renovation to make it right for them.
The renovation focuses on the public rooms, creating an open great room while also designating space for specific functions. A unique feature of the layout is a floor-to-ceiling shoji-inspired wall. Designed by Michael Howells, the wall contains pressed gingko leaves, and acts as a partition for the foyer. Made from translucent eco-resin the wall adds a layer of drama to the space, both concealing and hinting at the views to come.
A place for everything
We designed a custom shoji-inspired screen at the foyer, as well as a bench for taking off and storing shoes. The bench cushion is upholstered in vintage kimono fabric belonging to Debbie.
Granite countertops are clean lined, with waterfall detailing at the bar.
A collector's home
Built-in cabinetry and bookcases display Debbie's collections of Asian teapots, boxes, and antique molds.
