Mike + Sasha's Ski Home

New Custom Home in Jackson Hole, WY

We designed this ski-in, ski-out home in Teton Village, Wyoming, for a family with 4 children. Strict subdivision guidelines mandated a traditional western mountain style, but a reductive approach to detailing balances the rustic elements. The 7-bedroom 5-bath home  captures views of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the valley beyond.

Interiors were designed and furnished by Howells Architecture + Design. Regional staples (bison taxidermy, antler chandeliers) mix with more refined pieces. Wherever possible, we incorporated western-made products into the design, such as Rocky Mountain Hardware for all cabinetry and door hardware, Pendleton wool for soft furnishings and drapes, and handmade tile by Heath Ceramics.

While we think Michael excels at interior design, we were excited to see what he could do with the design of an entire house. Especially a house that sits on a topographically challenging lot, and includes stringent neighborhood design and covenant guidelines that required it to match its existing natural landscape. We think he nailed it: creating a standout home that meets our entire family’s needs, while still seamlessly blending in with the Tetons.

Rustic + refined

Rustic + refined

Traditional western materials, such as stone and timber, feature prominently in the house. Detailing is clean-lined and precise, to counter the heavy rustic elements.
